La Alianza Hispana’s Senior Social and Recreation Center is actively working with a variety of funders to create a dynamic and accessible senior services.
La Alianza Hispana Art Therapy Program
The goal of this program is to help seniors reduce stress, depression, and anxiety, and to build confidence and independence through guided artistic expression. Expressive therapies facilitate healing and development by merging traditional clinical techniques with the therapeutic use of dance, drama, literature, music, poetry and the visual arts.
Research on Health and Aging
The Adult Day Health & Senior Social and Recreation Center has partnered with Tufts University and Northeastern University to research nutrition and health related issues in older Puerto Ricans. A longitudinal study sponsored by the National Institute of Health is currently under way. Findings will be posted when available.
